According to the statement made by herkul.org, Gülen was taken to a hospital after suffering from arrhythmia, also known as heart rhythm abnormality, caused by sudden high blood pressure.
After being taken home following medical observation, Gülen received a telephone call from Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who expressed to him his best wishes.
Earlier this year in March, Gülen conveyed his “get well soon” wishes to Erdoğan, who was taken to a hospital after catching a cold.
President Abdullah Gül also reportedly called Gülen and offered his best wishes to the Islamic scholar.
Gülen is a Turkish Islamic scholar well known for his teachings promoting mutual understanding and tolerance between cultures. He has pioneered educational activities in a number of countries, along with efforts to promote intercultural and interfaith activities around the world.
He has also written nearly 70 books in Turkish, some of which have been translated into other languages.
Gülen has been living in the US since 1999 because of health problems. The Islamic scholar also suffers from diabetes.
