Turkish Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen has conveyed his “get well soon” wishes to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who was taken to a hospital on Tuesday after catching a cold.
Erdoğan was taken to Ankara Atatürk Research and Training Hospital for a few hours on Tuesday, where he had a medical examination.
In a message published in the Zaman daily on Wednesday, Gülen said he heard about Erdoğan's sickness with sincere grief, adding: “Fortunately it's only a cold infection and I learned that he will get well soon after resting for a few days. I ask God to restore our prime minister's health.”
A parliamentary group meeting of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) was also canceled on Tuesday morning due to Erdoğan's poor health.
