Trustees appointed to Koza ipek group halted the publication of Thursday’s print editions of two dailies that are included in the holding’s media group after they took the group’s channels off air earlier on Wednesday.
Turkish riot police stormed the headquarters of İpek Media Group which is among the companies of Koza shortly after dawn on Wednesday.
During the raids, Turkish police broke through gates and stormed the headquarters of İpek Media Group located in the Mecidiyeköy neighborhood of İstanbul amid brawls. Several reporters were injured as they were handcuffed from behind by riot police.
The trustees, accompanied by police, then cut broadcast of Kanaltürk and Bugün dailies, in a fresh blow to press freedom in Turkey which is set to hold parliamentary elections on Sunday.
