Gülen gives thanks for recovery wishes

Turkish religious scholar Fethullah Gülen published two messages on Oct. 24 addressed to politicians, including the president, the prime minister, business people, journalists, academics and religious leaders, thanking for their recovery wishes due to his recent hospital treatment in the United States.

In his two page statement, printed in Turkish daily Zaman Oct. 24, Gülen thanked President Abdullah Gül, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Parliament Speaker Cemil Çiçek, Istanbul Governor Hüseyin Avni Mutlu, and many business people including Turkish Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association (TÜSİAD) head Muharrem Yılmaz, Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists of Turkey (TUSCON) head Rızanur Meral, Koç Holding Chairman Mustafa Koç and Doğan Holding honorary chairman Aydın Doğan.

Gülen said he wished he could personally thank those who called him despite their busy schedule. Gülen also thanked a large number of politicians from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) as well as the opposition parties.

He also thanked the editor-in-chiefs of several newspapers including daily Hürriyet editor-in-chief Enis Berberoğlu, daily Türkiye editor-in-chief Nuh Albayrak and daily Bügün’s editor-in-chief Erhan Başyurt.

Gülen was recently hospitalized due to high blood pressure, and he was discharged from hospital after approximately 12 hours.
