Yabancı Yayınlar begins selling translated works online

Yabancı Yayınlar, a sub-branch of the Kaynak Kültür Yayın Grubu, which is among the major publishing companies of Turkey, has launched a website to sell its publications in many languages online.

Yabancı Yayınlar offers foreign publications in 50 languages on the issues of the Islamic faith, mysticism and the arts as well as publications for children through its website yabanciyayinlar.com.

The foundation, which has published a total of 800 works in 50 languages over 20 years, determines the languages in which to publish books and magazines based on the demands of their readership and needs in the publishing sector, according to Fikret Yaşar, the editorial director of the publishing foundation. English, German, French, Urdu, Bosnian, Mongolian and Hungarian are among the languages in which the publishing group has released magazines and books.

At least two individuals with native fluency in the target language check the translations from the Turkish of each book and magazine the foundation publishes. Then an additional reviewer incorporates the corrections before the publication process begins.

Fethullah Gulen
Among the works the foundation has translated and published in foreign languages are books by the Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen, the Risale-i Nur collection, which is a series of books on the Islamic faith and the interpretation of verses of the Quran written by 19th-century Islamic thinker Bediüzzaman Said Nursi, and the magazine Fountain, published in German and English. Yabancı Yayınlar also aims to publish the translations of a selection of classical Turkish literature.
