The fasting month of Ramadan, deemed the sultan of all the months by Muslims, is considered the most venerated, blessed and spiritually beneficial month of the Islamic year. During this month, prayers, fasting, charity and self-accountability are particularly emphasized, and all obligatory religious observances are further encouraged at this time, as this month was called by the Prophet “the month of my people [Ummah].”
For this reason, Kimse Yok Mu as well as other charity organizations will actively operate under the slogan of “Between sahur [the last meal eaten before the day’s fasting begins during Ramadan] and iftar [fast-breaking meal] is the time to share in Ramadan.” Aiming to provide help to people in need in 70 countries including Somalia, Palestine, Jordan, Indonesia and Pakistan, as well as in all of Turkey’s 81 provinces, the charity organization will offer sahur and iftar meals in public soup kitchens that will be established in designated squares across the provinces, and it will also distribute 90,000 food packages to people in need in Turkey.
Furthermore, people in need will be given clothes and shoes to help them enjoy Eid al-Fitr, a three-day religious festival that marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Kimse Yok Mu is calling all potential benefactors to help this humanitarian campaign. Those sending an SMS reading IFTAR to 5777 can donate TL 5 to the charity organization. An aid package that will be delivered to a family in need costs TL 70, ($40 or 30 euros). One package includes sunflower oil, rice, tomato puree, tea, olives, jam and other daily food items.
Entering the international field following the tsunami that hit Indonesia in 2004, Kimse Yok Mu’s mission continued with humanitarian aid campaigns organized for Palestine, Lebanon, Peru, Bangladesh, Sudan, Darfur, Georgia, Ossetia, Myanmar, China, Gaza and Haiti. The association has reached out to people from 70 countries to distribute the charity of the Turkish people during Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha (Feast of the Sacrifice).
