Water wells bring relief to two more villages in Darfur

Sudanese people, who had been struggling with water shortages, have started to benefit from water wells in two towns of Nyala city. The water wells were completed in two weeks.

KYM volunteers opened service of two water wells where people have died due unhygienic conditions and drought during the summertime. The first of these wells, Yunus Uslu Water Well, was opened in the village of Fetih in Selam Town; The other well, Haci Ismet Gunaydin Water Well, was opened in the village of Dibenga in Bilel Town.

In Selam, 340 households (1,400 people) are benefitting from the first water well. The water travels from 36 meters deep, 1,200 liters of water surfaces per hour, from the well which is 63 km from the center of Nyala. Haci Ismet Water Well is 42 meters deep and 300 families (1,300 people) are benefitting from it. 4,200 liters of water is surfacing per hour from the well which is 21 km from Nyala. Until now, there were no other water wells in these two villages.
