Punjab, the most crowded state in Pakistan with a population of 79 million, donated 100 thousand dollars to Van. KYM President Ünal Özturk received the check.
The Prime Minister of the Punjab Province Shahbaz Sharif, came to Turkey for a series of meetings and investigations and he met with KYM's President Unal Ozturk in Istanbul. The meeting was at the Rixos hotel in Taksim. Pak-Turk Schools General Director, Taner Kocyigit also joined the meeting. After a short conversation with President Unal Ozturk, the Punjab Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif thanked KYM for its relief activities in Pakistan and gave him a 100 thousand dollar check made out for the Van Campaign.
Sharif stated that Turkey and Pakistan are brothers countries and Turkey has a special place in the hearts of the Punjab people. Following the earthquake the local government of the Punjab region sent 2 plane loads of relief supplies and delivered it together with KYM. Unal Ozturk gave a speech while he received the donation and thanked the Punjab Prime Minister and Punjab people. The meeting lasted about 30 minutes and Shahbaz Sharif offered a plaque with was inscribed with the gates of the Lahor castle. Immediately after the earthquake, Punjab province sent two planes belonging to the Pakistan Air Force to the earthquake region of Van and continued to help the Van Campaign with a 100 thousand dollar check.
