Kosovo arrests Gülen-linked man at Turkey's request

Kosovo authorities have arrested Turkish citizen Ugur Toksoy on Friday, at Turkey's request. Toksoy who is considered as opponent of the Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is wanted by Turkish authorities on charges for “organisation and participation in a terrorist group.”

The Basic Court of Pristina has on Saturday ordered 40 days detention, pending extradition procedures, for the Turkish citizen Ugur Toksoy, who was arrested in southern city of Prizren based on Turkey’s international arrest warrant, accused of being part of the Gülen movement, Gazeta Express reports.

According to a press release of the Basic Court of Pristina, Toksoy is wanted on criminal charges for “organisation and participation in a terrorist group” based on a warrant of the Republic of Turkey issued on 16 and 19 October 2017, for Toksoy's extradition to Turkey.

Tuksoy was living in Kosovo over the last two years and was employed in the Atmosfera” working as an education official.

Gazeta Express reports that his arrest came after pressure of Turkish officials towards Kosovo who asked arrest of all members of the Gulen Movement and closing of schools financed by Gulen.
