The Commissioner General of the Liberia Revenue Authority, (LRA) Elfrieda Stewart Tamba, has cautioned Liberian students to be respectful, serious and law-abiding in their academic sojourn as they are future leaders for their country.
Mrs. Tamba said good students are those who are respectful to their parents, school and national authorities while pursuing their education.
The Commissioner General made the call Friday, October 16, when she served as a guest speaker at programs marking the 9th gala day and official opening of the lower primary school building of the Liberian-Turkish Light International School in Sinkor.
She said the educational system requires significant investments to meet the standards needed in producing better products, and commended the Liberian-Turkish Light International for constructing additional facilities to hold students of its primary education division.
“We, on behalf of the people of Liberia, say thank you to the Turkish Light International School and the Turkish Government and People,” Mrs. Tamba stated.
“I have come to encourage students to be studious, focused in the pursuit of their future goals,” the LRA Boss noted, adding, “I encourage each of you to be a good student, be respectful to your teachers, authorities and to national authorities.”
Mrs. Tamba indicated that the young students are the future of Liberia; therefore, it is important to emphasize and invest in quality education to develop the youths for their meaningful contributions to the country tomorrow.
Commissioner Tamba lauded the Turkish Light International for their decision to invest in education in Liberia and their achievements as one of the better schools in Liberia, despite the reported low standards of education in the country. Mrs. Tamba applauded the school for the progress in the limited time frame and urged authorities to keep providing quality education, a press release said yesterday.
