International students’ mothers meet in Istanbul to mark Mother’s Day

A group of 206 mothers, representing 66 countries, whose children are studying in Turkey have come to Istanbul to attend a three-day event celebrating Mother's Day.

Now in its third year, the Baran International Student and Culture Federation event began on Sunday at İstanbul's Türker İnanoğlu Maslak (TİM) Show Center and concluded with a boat trip on the Bosporus on Tuesday.

The TİM Show Center program, which was organized by a committee headed by journalist Nazlı Ilıcak, featured the middle and high school students whose mothers are visiting performing plays, singing songs and reciting poems. Journalist Suna Vidinli and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) deputy Meral Akşener also participated.

As part of the three-day program, the visiting mothers were also taken on a boat tour which gave them the opportunity to take photos of famous residences and historic buildings along the Bosporus Strait, such as the Ortaköy Mosque, Rumeli Hisarı fortress and the two bridges linking Europe and Asia.
