The director and chief executive officer of NMC, Prof Adewale Solarin, gave the commendation in Abuja during the presentation of about 12 awards won by NTIC in Mathematics and Science competitions.
Solarin expressed satisfaction with the effective academic system put in place in all NTIC branches, which has seen to Nigeria winning medals in international Mathematics and Science Olympiads, just as he declared the school as the best in Mathematics in Nigeria for 2014.
“I am very impressed with the kind of system NTIC have in place, so I am not surprise that we have to celebrate their achievements,” the Director said.
On the partnership between NMC and NTIC, the director stated that the collaboration has led to enormous gains in stimulating students’ interest in Mathematics.
“NTIC has been a formidable partner of NMC. If we want to look at the achievement we have had so far in international competition starting from Pan-Africa Olympiad, NTIC contributed significantly to the numbers of medals we have.
“If we look at the international Mathematics Olympiads and Physics Olympiads which we had six medals so far, five of the medals can be associated to NTIC.
“At the national level, in every state that NTIC has a school, it is always on the fore front of the award, usually we give plaque to first three positions and the best schools, and in those states, NTIC is always on the top,” he stated.
Presenting the awards to the management of the school, minister of state for education, Prof Viola Onwuliri, described the performance of NTIC students as astounding and expressed the willingness of the Federal Government to further collaborate with the school to shore up Mathematics and Science Education.
