Nigerian Turkish Foundation donates educational materials to Lagos schools

Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Olayinka Oladunjoye has restated the need for individuals and private organizations to partner with the State government in order to raise the standard of education in the State.

Oladunjoye who made the call in Lagos while receiving educational materials valued at N.2million donated to the pupils of St. Peters’ Anglican Nursery and Primary School, Ikeja by the Nigerian Turkish International Colleges Foundation explained that the call became necessary because government alone cannot adequately lift the standard of education.

The Commissioner who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Omolara Erogbogbo pointed out that with no fewer than 1,007 primary Schools in the State adding that in spite of several interventions by the government, it cannot do it all alone hence it therefore welcomes any form of assistance by philanthropists and private organizations.

While appreciating the kind gesture of the Nigerian Turkish International Colleges Foundation, the Commissioner commended them for giving attention to primary education because according to her, it is the foundation of the education sector stressing that if the foundation is well laid the structure will stand the test of time.

She asked for more to be done for the Children whom she believed will find the materials very beneficial in making them do well in their studies and prayed to God to continue to bless the Foundation.

Earlier in his remark, the Director, Nigerian Turkish Colleges Foundation, Mr. Fettulah Celik explained that the Foundation was established 2013 with the aim of providing services to humanity in order to minimize the level of hardship in Nigeria and focuses on various activities such as education, health, water support and orphanages.

Mr. Celik who spoke through the Principal of Nigerian Turkish International Colleges, Opebi, Lagos, Mr. Yunus Emre Dogan noted that his Foundation will in the no distance future spread the intervention to other schools in Lagos,

The Foundation donated no fewer than 200 packs of educational material containing eight exercise books, Mathematical sets, notebook, pack of pencils, colour pencils, drawing books, crayons, erasers, sharpeners and nutritional items.
