Kimse Yok Mu have performed over 30,000 cataract surgeries to help restore eyesight |
KYM Konya chapter earlier rolled up the sleeves to make it possible to restore vision to the eyes of many Africans suffering blindness due to cataract disease. The volunteers joined the foundation’s ongoing cataract project and committed to sponsor 150 cataract surgeries.
The chapter’s director Hasan Avci said,” We all know the current extent of the cataract disease in Africa. Our volunteers have joined us in KYM’s cataract project. They would like to help restore the eyesight to the African cataract patients’ eyes. By participating in the aid project, they will be able to witness sometimes a mother’s joy as she sees her child for the first time or a girl’s joy as her eyes restore vision she lacked since birth.”
Cataract disease occurs in Africa, where the sun strikes at a perpendicular angle, particularly due to malnutrition and sandstorms. The disease, which is in fact very easy to cure, is causing thousands of African to lose their eyesight. And the number of children born with the disease indicates the severity it has reached today.
