Romania hosts song contest of Language and Culture Festival

The song contest final of the 12th International Language and Culture Festival was held in Bucharest on June 15.


The event, formerly called the Turkish Olympiads, was organized by the International Turkish Association (TÜRKÇEDER) at Sala Palatului congress hall. The program was kicked off with a brief commemoration for Soma mine victims, who were killed at the end of an explosion in mine in May. A group of students sang a folk song in memory of the miners.

A total of 12 students from 12 countries competed in song contest, which enchanted the audience. Kosovan student named Anita Syla came first in the contest with song “Firuze”.

Speaking during the ceremony prominent Romanian singer Andre Marin said he loves Turkey a lot and it is very grateful and exciting that the final was held in Romania.

The finalists have been in Bucharest since last week, where they had a chance to meet Turkish families and try different samples of Turkish cuisine.
