Aid and International Development Forum (AIDF) held Food Security Summit at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok, Thailand, on November 26-27.
The summit -intended as a contribution to the UN’s cause- was attended by 130 delegation members including UN officials, representatives of NGOs and numerous companies engaged in private sector. Kimse Yok Mu Foundation’s Secretary-General, Savas Metin, represented Turkey at the event. Metin delivered a presentation on nutrition and food safety at high-risk during post-disaster periods. “Mindful of the high risk, we have examined the additives used to prolong food lifespan,” Metin said. He went on to highlight the crucial need that water in industrialized countries too is purified. Water shortage and hygiene constitute the weightiest item when food security is at stake, Metin argued. He reported Kimse Yok Mu Foundation, in this regard, has made water wells available to public in a large number of countries, primarily in Africa.
