Kimse Yok Mu extends helping hand to Indonesia

An event was organized over the weekend by the Fatih Turk High School and Turkish Charity Foundation Kimse Yok Mu (Is Anybody There) for the children who have been orphaned due to the tsunami disaster that occurred in the Aceh region of Indonesia in 2004.

Speaking at the opening of the event, Fatih Turk High School Principal Harun Caglar said that the friendly ties which have emerged with a helping hand extended by Ottomans to the Aceh region in 1569 were strengthened following the tsunami disaster that occurred in the region. "At that time, the Muslim Turkish people have used every means available to heal their wounds. Again, they're not leaving thousands of orphans alone," Caglar said. Speaking for his part, Hasbi Abdullah, current speaker of Aceh's parliament, said that Turkey and Indonesia were two brother and friendly countries. "We expect to receive aids from you in educational, economy and social fields, and we consider education as the most important one. Thank God, these schools make great contributions to the education in Indonesia. We entrust our children, including my own children, to you. And we obviously believe that they are in safe hands with you," Abdullah said.
