Upon the high interest that the recent seminars analyzing the book The Messenger of God: Muhammad saw during Mawlid al-Nebi, a series of events of the same nature came along throughout the month in Indonesia. A total of 14 seminars and conferences were held at Indonesia’s several prominent universities and hotels. People from different walks of life have participated in the ongoing series of events so far.
The seminars are centered on “Cahaya Abadi”, the Indonesian translation of Fethullah Gulen’s book The Messenger of God, Muhammad which gained worldwide recognition. Numerous religious scholars and academics have delivered speeches at the seminars jointly held by Jakarta Islamic University Fethullah Gulen Chair, relevant universities and non-profit civil society organizations. Besides, follow-up Q-and-A sessions enabled the attendees to interact with the speakers for a deeper analysis.
A seminar official Dr. Ali Unsal, highly pleased with the keen participation, recalled an issue that was also highlighted throughout the seminars: “First of all, the honorable Fethullah Gulen is of the opinion that when the contemporary man meets Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) afresh, removes the huge gap that the ages and incidents created and fully understands him adopting his traditions, he will be able to, mostly or wholly, solve both personal and social problems. His opinion has been well received at every occasion by academia and audience to date. Attendees sincerely expressed their views confirming a consensus and admitted that “Now we realize that a huge gap formed between us and our Prophet Mohammad in time. We cannot claim to know him truly. We might know him to some extend but still lack a deeper understanding of his life.”
Additionally, Unsal said “We are presenting subtitled excerpts from Gulen’s sermons on our Prophet (pbuh), which in particular change the atmosphere in the hall. The audience witnesses a genuine lover of the Prophet (pbuh) and comes to realize that he is a tearful and deeply concerned scholar who strives to get people better understand the Prophet and spread his message. We have received a remarkable appreciation at every organization so far, which is a clear manifestation of a longing for the Prophet Muhammad. We hope it keeps going this way.”
The Indonesian translation of The Messenger of God, Muhammad is regarded as the most comprehensive prophetic biography book in Indonesia. Having released its second edition in a very short period of time, the book found its place among the best sellers at the bookstores.
