Political parties are slowly revealing their stance on the government's talks with Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) head Abdullah Öcalan.
It is always better if we focus on possible results rather than being drowned in details in this kind of long-running process because each speech, polemic or debate consumes our energy bit by bit. Sentences beginning with “but” render our positive stance meaningless. Even though the first statements of PKK commanders in Kandil and of the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) are not very promising, I am quite hopeful about the process. The Republican People's Party (CHP) giving a green light to the process and the supportive statements of Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen are the main reasons for my hope. Although there are still international actors seeking an opportunity to sabotage the peace process, the positive transformation within our country might be what shapes its fate.
