Somali doctors and nurses are ready for service

Somali doctors and nurses, who were brought to Turkey for basic medical skill training in cooperation with KYM and the Aegean International Health Federation (ESAFED), have completed their education in General Surgery, Orthopedics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Internal Medicine, and Emergency Operations.

Somali doctors and nurses received their training certificates after studying at Izmir Katip Celebi University, Ataturk Education and Research Hospital, and Izmir Sifa University Medical Faculty Hospital.

The group of doctors and nurses made a courtesy visit to the KYM headquarters before returning to Somalia and stated that they were now better equipped doctors and nurses and ready to service in Somalia.

"As a Somali, we will never forget" said one of the nurses, Sehra Salaad Nagaye. She said, "I didn't know of KYM before and then I learned that they were doing very good things in Somalia. It is a very good organization and it's employees are very good people. Thank you very much for everything Republic of Turkey and it's people. The Somalian people will never forget the goodness that you do."

Ahmed Ali, a Somalian who lives in Sweden, came to visit a friend studying at the Marmara University Faculty of Medicine. He said, "When I heard that doctors and nurses from my country came to Turkey, I wanted to help them. I was with them in Izmir for one month because they didn't speak enough Turkish. I want to thank KYM and ESAFED for giving me this opportunity." Also drawing attention to the Turkish people's self-interest in hospitality, "I went to several countries but there are many differences between Turkey and them. Because Turkey is a Muslim country, they are treating us with brotherhood. Turkish people are very good."

"Istanbul is a very large and impressive city and I would love to come again"

Somali nurse Daahiro Aaadan expressed her impressions of Istanbul at every opportunity, saying "Izmir is also a very beautiful city, but after seeing Istanbul it is understood that Istanbul is a much larger city and much nicer. Despite the impressive crowd of people the air of the city is great. I would love to come back. Also, watching the Bosphorus is very enjoyable."

After the trip, the guests returned to their residence and expressed their gratitude to KYM and were very enthusiastic for being better equipped to serve as doctors and nurses once they get back to their
country

KYM surprises the guests

After the visit the KYM team prepared a surprise for the Somali guests and took them to Eminonu, one of the oldest and mystic districts of Istanbul. They had the opportunity to visit historical places and also went shopping at the Grand Bazaar and Mahmutbey.
