There has been speculation about a relationship between the
Hizmet movement and the match-fixing operation, which has plunged Turkish football into chaos since last summer, claiming the movement gave orders for the rigging operation. The speculators go as far as to say the movement is trying to acquire Fenerbahçe, the football club at the center of the allegations and whose chairman, Aziz Yıldırım, is being held in prison. In an interview on NTVSpor, Şen said on Wednesday he does not believe the
Hizmet movement has been attempting to gain control of Fenerbahçe through the rigging operation. Responding to Yıldırım, who argues the match-fixing investigation is politically motivated and out of an interest to gain control of Fenerbahçe, Şen said if the
Hizmet movement was the secret actor that Yıldırım was referring to, he was wrong.
