Assistance activities have been carried out in Sudan since 2007 and another fruit of our labor has arrived. Sponsored by a businessman, Tahsin Tekoglu, a new school is being built and when it is finished it will be a source of hope for Darfur students.
KYM has continued non stop relief efforts for the people of Sudan since 2007. In the Darfur region of Sudan, KYM has built a school, a hospital, a police center, an orphanage and homes for it's Orhaniye Town Project. 9,141 cataract patients have been treated, new water wells brought water to the public, and businessman Tahsin Tekoglu continues to support KYM's new projects.
In December 2010, KYM laid the foundation for a school which would have a capacity for 240 students. The schools construction has almost been finished and the name "Emine Anne" has been given to it.
In the past months, KYM opened a sewing course in Sudan and businessman Tahsin Tekoglu donated $6 million worth of fabric. He said, "We were always supporting KYM's projects indirectly. Businessmen must take this job seriously and should think about the beauty of the projects, believe in miracles, and realize the benefits. They are already successful people, but the desire to be useful to others is a characteristic of success and the seal of it is to live..."
The KYM family was shaken by news of the death of Emine Tekoglu, the wife of Tahsin Tekoglu, on the 15th of December 2011. Emine Tekoglu had supported the Somalia, Van, the Vocational Training Assistance program and many other projects. She held the hands of many people in need with her support to the KYM Association and her name has been given to the new school in Darfur. Her death had a deep impact on the KYM volunteers and donators.
Emine Tekoglu caused a lot of good throughout her life and now, with the opening of a new school, Emine Anne School will shine a light on Sudanese students' future. May she rest in peace.
