EBRU TV hosted a telethon in partnership with the Helping Hands Relief Foundation for victims of Turkiye's recent earthquake on Thursday evening.
The Telethon, which collected more than 750-thousand dollars in pledges was hosted by Ebru News anchors Logan Crawford and Diane Bakos.
Much to the surprise of the staff at EBRU, the callcenter was flooded with calls from across the country.
EBRU correspondents Kyle Schmoyer, and Nicole Fox, who answered phones throughout the show, share their stories.
Many organizations also pledged their support, including the Crescent Community Foundation and the Bangladeshi American Youth Association.
Even 9 year old Kerem Ulusal from Connecticut donated money he was saving for a new video game.
Golden Generation Foundation President Bekir Aksoy also donated 25 thousand dollars on behalf of the foundation.
Many Turkish American Organizations also pledged funds, such as the Raindrop Turkish House in Texas and Turkish American Federation in Midwest.
The program was initially planned to be 2 hours but due to the high volume of calls it was extended another hour.
Many prominent members of Congress were among the callers.
All received pledges will be collected by Helping Hands Relief Foundation and immediately utilized for the on-going relief efforts in Van/Ercis and the surrounding areas.
